Sedus has strong partners at its side for integrated office furnishing, ergonomic quality and environmentally conscious management.
Cooperations
Sedus is working with the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering IAO as part of the Office 21® innovation network because we are pursuing a common goal: to design working environments that focus on people and are future-proof, sustainable and effective. At a time when work is undergoing profound changes due to hybrid models, technological innovations and social transformation, there is a need for well-founded research and practical concepts. This is exactly where our cooperation comes in.
The Office 21® network explores how offices will look and function in the future, and what they will be like. Working with scientists, planners and companies from a variety of industries, they develop scenarios and practical models that help organisations to design working environments effectively. Sedus has many years of expertise in ergonomics, furniture design and interior concepts to contribute to this process, while at the same time gaining exclusive insights into trends and findings long before they become visible on the market.
The goal is to develop working environments that not only optimise use of space, but also encourage motivation, productivity and well-being. The cooperation with Fraunhofer IAO gives us the opportunity to test innovations at an early stage and translate them into market-driven, people-oriented solutions – through flexible space management strategies, data-driven planning or new usage concepts for office areas.

We see the partnership with Fraunhofer IAO as a clear commitment: we want to actively shape the workplace transformation on the basis of scientific evidence, by sharing knowledge with pioneering thinkers and by aspiring to create spaces that have an emotional impact.

Sedus collaborates with the BDIA because we share the same conviction: spaces are more than just floor area – they influence our thinking, our health and the way we socialise. Interior design is becoming increasingly important, especially in the context of modern working environments. That's why we rely on dialogue with the people who design these spaces with vision, responsibility and competence. Working with the BDIA allows us access to the latest developments at an early stage, so that we can develop solutions that are right on point in terms of both function and culture.
Our goal is to focus on spaces, transforming them and making them emotionally accessible. Because spaces have an effect – on well-being, our productivity and our attitude to life and work. The association actively promotes this vision by sharing expertise, encouraging young talent and networking on an international scale. Sedus puts this understanding into practice firstly by designing spaces to be functional, but also by creating an intentional aesthetic impact. Through concepts such as the Work Café, a place that serves as a link between communication and concentration. Materials, zoning and furniture are used here in a way that creates atmosphere, so that each space becomes an immersive experience.
The Association of German Interior Architects (BDIA) has played a key role in shaping the development of interior design in Germany for more than 70 years. Originally set up as a professional association for interior designers, the BDIA has developed over the decades into a trailblazing platform for design, spatial thinking and architectural quality. This is evident in its active role in professional bodies, helping to shape university curricula and awarding prizes for innovative interior design projects.
The BDIA approaches interior architecture not only as a design discipline, but as a life enhancement in cultural, social and functional terms.

We see cooperation with the BDIA as a clear commitment: we want to work with the best – so that the spaces we create together have an emotional impact.

As early as the 1990s, the respected Hamburg doctor Dr. Günther Neumeyer supported the theory that back-friendly products are an important building block for the prevention and treatment of backache. Today, this theory is undisputed and has been proved in various studies. Thanks to his initiative, the independent Association Aktion Gesunder Rücken e. V. was founded in 1995. This non-profit organisation cooperates with various medical fields of study and their associations, as well as with many thousand doctors and therapists. Comprehensive findings and information from the medical world are collected and published. The latest findings from the fields of orthopaedics, physiotherapy, industrial medicine, sports science etc. are drawn up by independent experts. This helps many people who are stricken by backache. And that is the majority of us.
The AGR seal of approval offers valuable help, for it identifies products and articles of daily use whose ergonomic qualities were tested in several medical fields of study.
AGR also passes on medical know-how to the employees of the qualified, specialised retail trade in order to improve their advisory quality. These training courses have to be refreshed at regular intervals.
However, medical specialists also use this further training by AGR to improve their advisory competence in the field of ergonomic everyday life. These experts qualify as „Consultants for back-friendly situational prevention“.

The AGR seal of approval has received the accolade "very good" from ÖKO-TEST, a German consumer magazine, and has been given the best grade "highly recommendable" by "Label-online", a portal run by the federal consumer initiative association "Die Verbraucher Initiative e. V.". "Label-online" is being constantly expanded, modified and upgraded with support from the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, the Federal Environment Agency and currently also from the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL).

This guideline defines quality standards for office furniture, taking into account the latest ergonomics developments. It is intended to emphasise the benefits of high-quality products and competent services, promote their sensible use and specify the requirements for these services.
Therefore, QUALITY OFFICE stands for much more than just material processing and design quality. It considers the GS label as a necessary prerequisite and takes into account the high value of ergonomic quality. Furthermore, it also defines the spectrum of office services.
After all, the demands on office work are constantly increasing. Proper planning and furnishing is not merely about functionality; it is also about the health and safety of people in the office.
The QUALITY OFFICE creates an office world in which people work healthily, are prepared to perform and are committed to contributing their talents. An office world, in which work is carried out more economically and efficiently.
