The evolution of digital devices has enabled us to perform many of these tasks from almost anywhere and at any time. Consequently, people are changing their behavior at work, demanding more freedom in their decisions where to work. At the same time, office workers experience an increasing amount of complexity in managing their per- sonal agendas.

As a result, most white-collar workers spend the majority of their time working - more than they spend sleeping - even though it is generally acknowledged that, especially for knowledge workers, every hour of work above 40 actually makes the worker less effective and productive in both the short and the long term. Only 20% of today’s jobs require a moderate level of activity, as compared to 50% in the ‘60s 1.
Physical inactivity and sedentary behaviors are issues effecting more than 30% of the global urban population. According to the British Heart Foundation, 37% of men spend less than 30 minutes standing during office time (43% of women) and 78% of workers felt they spent too much time sitting down while working 2.
