Wellbeing at the office is a good business strategy:
it increases the commitment and productivity of employees, it improves the company’s competitiveness and helps you win the war of talents
The concept of wellbeing is not defined consistently around the world and its meaning keeps evolving.
While wellness initially referred to the basic absence of diseases or conditions induc- ing human health problems, it now embraces all the different aspects of comfort, from physical, to mental and social ones.
When assessing the state of wellbeing, several factors have
to be considered:
- The body - encompassing the areas of fitness, nutrition and sleep
- The state of mind – including feelings, the ability of coping with stress and the emo- tional balance
- And finally, the individual’s ability to cultivate relationships, to feel responsible and committed to a community, to develop a sense of ownership and belonging, and to communicate with others in a confident way.
All these aspects are crucial elements to consider when designing a working space that is to provide individuals with the perfect environment to perform on their jobs.
An environment that no longer depends on the spatial characteristics of the building, nor on the ergonomics of chairs and desks, but on the possibility to pass easily from one task to another: focusing on individual activities and participating in collective brainstorming, concentrating on a delivery or presenting results in an open meeting.
