The Vodafone Village is a complex of about 67,000 square meters in which more than 3.000 persons work and live. The venue is composed of three towers (14, 12 and 10 storeys). These are connected at various levels, where offices and other types of space are used to recreate a “borgo” (village), following the Italian architectonic tradition. The building incorprates a range of other settings too, like a rooftop bar, a theatre, a day care unity, the city of taste, and so on. These are the spaces that most effectively demonstrate the commitment of the firm to create a place in which long lasting relationships can flourish with people based on trust and mutual growth.
The complex has been designed to create a sense of community, belonging, inter- action and communication between the company and people and embodies two essential values for the company: social responsibility and sustainability. The spaces dedicated to work offer numerous options and different solutions, providing employ- ees with the freedom to decide where and how they want to work, while other spaces are focused on helping people to manage their work-life balance and their personal and professional growth.
All the functions of the space have being agreed through a series of innovative co- design sessions in which both Vodafone employees and citizens were involved. By applying principles of gamification, the workshops helped to make easier to under- stand the organizational challenges and support the decision making process.
The focal point of the complex is the Vodafone Learning Center, the Corporate University: with more than 60,000 people days each year for training activities it represents the largest investment in human capital by the company and a way for all employees and the stakeholders in the telecommunication business to increase their professional skills and knowledge.
Vodafone Village is the largest building in Italy that received the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification (LEED).
It attests the low environmental impact of the complex, the high level of energy efficiency and the comfort of work spaces, designed on the wellbeing perceived by all employees.
